The statement of Faith

Preamble

The Church of Episcopal Fellowship International Diocese (CEFI Diocese) stands as a testament to God’s divine calling and the enduring legacy of the Christian faith in India. Rooted in apostolic tradition, Biblical truth, and Episcopal governance, our diocese upholds the spiritual and doctrinal heritage entrusted to us through centuries of Christian ministry.

Christianity in India traces its origins to the first century, with the evangelistic mission of Apostle Thomas, followed by the nurturing efforts of Roman Catholics and later, the Protestant missionary movements. In the twentieth century, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit ignited a great spiritual awakening, leading to the establishment of numerous churches. However, many of these churches lacked formal recognition and structured governance, limiting their ability to function effectively under national ecclesiastical laws.

It was within this backdrop that CEFI Diocese emerged as part of God’s plan—to provide an organised Episcopal structure for independent and autonomous churches. Today, we stand as a Biblically sound, legally compliant, and spiritually united diocese, equipping pastors and ministries to fulfil their divine calling with authority, structure, and unwavering faith.

Our Statement of Faith

At CEFI Diocese, we firmly uphold and declare our faith in accordance with the foundational truths of the Holy Scriptures. Our beliefs are anchored in the Word of God, the teachings of Jesus Christ, and the guiding presence of the Holy Spirit.

1. The Authority of Scripture

We believe that the Holy Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It serves as the ultimate standard for faith, doctrine, and Christian living.

2. The Triune God

We believe in one eternal God, existing in three distinct persons—God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit—equal in power, glory, and divinity.

3. The Lordship of Jesus Christ

We affirm that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary, fully divine and fully human. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for the redemption of humanity, rose from the dead on the third day, and now reigns at the right hand of the Father.

4. Salvation Through Grace

We believe that salvation is a gift from God, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. No amount of works or human efforts can earn salvation—it is solely through the atoning sacrifice of Christ that believers are redeemed and justified.

5. The Work of the Holy Spirit

We believe in the indwelling and empowerment of the Holy Spirit, who sanctifies believers, bestows spiritual gifts, and enables the Church to fulfill the Great Commission.

6. The Church – The Body of Christ

We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, composed of all believers, called to worship, fellowship, and proclaim the Gospel. As an Episcopal diocese, we uphold a structured governance model that ensures doctrinal unity, pastoral accountability, and mission-driven ministry.

7. The Sacraments of the Church

We recognise and administer the sacraments of Baptism and the Holy Eucharist, instituted by Christ as sacred acts of faith and obedience.

8. The Second Coming of Christ

We believe in the imminent return of Jesus Christ, who will come again to establish His eternal Kingdom, judge the living and the dead, and restore all things to righteousness.

9. Christian Life & Evangelism

We affirm that all believers are called to live a holy life, reflecting Christ’s love, righteousness, and compassion. We are commissioned to preach the Gospel to all nations, making disciples and advancing the Kingdom of God.

Final Declaration

The Church of Episcopal Fellowship International Diocese remains unwavering in its commitment to Biblical truth, spiritual leadership, and the fulfillment of the Great Commission. As a community of faith, we stand united in worship, doctrine, and service, ensuring that the Gospel continues to shine as a beacon of hope to all nations.
